Wyll’s Story
During university, I studied software engineering due to a general interest in computers, finishing my degree at the start of COVID. The timing resulted in my original post-grad plans getting benched, which is how I ended working at a ski resort. Before this the main tech stacks I worked on were ruby on rails and react, so this put my technical progression on somewhat of a back-burner, something I was looking to get back to with TDS.
My interest in TDS was largely aimed at getting back into the industry, but also the flexibility provided in coming to the UK, and working remotely. I met a lot of cool people from here prior to working for TDS, so it definitely aided the decision in coming here. It's been nice getting to meet the UK team, as the company has so many people based around here, having a more social setting has been great. The consultancy aspect was interesting from a tech exposure standpoint and getting to see different ways people utilise it through different clients.
So far the work I’ve done with TDS has been based around SPA frameworks, so I’ve gotten to learn Vue in addition to re-familiarising myself with React. Working on the ERP application has been good as well, as it has provided me the opportunity to orient myself from a design perspective instead of purely feature driven. As I progress here I’m looking forward to digging deeper into different technologies.
